Culture and Education Minister Plans full-day school  system for elementary – high school students.

            For a long time ago, politicians have been debating over different ideas for education reform in Indonesian’s education. Muhajir Effendy as Education and Culture Minister, for instance, promotes his controversial plan to extend school hours for elementary and junior high school students in order to have better-educated students and less stressful parents. However, many people confused and still asking why this program will be happen? Because, everyone has their own opinion about this program. There are some contra and pro opinion from many people about this. It  can be seen from several reasons such as; benefit, effectiveness, and students ability.
Here we go to the first reason, benefit: I think full-day schools seems very logic, if school time are extended into 4 or 5 p.m, students can learn more there, and they can spend their leisure time at school. So, it can prevent a divergence for students. It is better than if they go home in the afternoon or around 1 or 2 p.m, after that they can playing out side with their friends but parents dont know where they exactly going to, or if there is something bad  happen to them, who will be responsible for it? None knows. But if they spend a day at school, teachers can keep them carefully because they will be the person who responsible to the students.
Second reason is effectiveness: This is about how effective full day school for the teachers and parents. For parents who agreed with this program they could say that this program really effective because they think their children will be happy to spend a day at school with their friends, because they think a school is a place where they can get more knowledge there. Moreover , they are also several parents who disagree with a day school program most of them are  parents or a mother who doesnt work or not a busy parents, because they think, they need to spend their leisure time at home which is they can spend the time with their family and share many story about how far the expansion of their children, it also same on the contrary. And then for the teachers, we know that in Indonesia, especially  in a village the school have only around three or four teacher I think which means they only have a few teacher. This also a treat for this program because it means this program can’t be use at a village school.
And the last reasons is student’s ability: this is also the important one. Here, we have to know that, are the students agree with this program? Do they be able to get or study for a day in the school? Many people afraid (either it is teachers or parents) about this program because this can cause a stress effect to them which means this’ll make them feeling deepresed. Eventhough we know that there are several students have an ability to receive lessons for a day, but how the effect for those students who haven’t an ability or potential to study, to understand, or to learn for a day? It wil hurt them, even it doesnt show clearly by them. We have to know this first as a teacher or parents. I think, we can know how interest they eagerness with this program that by giving a questionnare or something like that. 
So, I think Full- Day School program is a good program, but first we have to know that what will be an impact if we do this program from elementary school – to high school students. Here, I am also agree with this program because it can help parents to keep their children in a good way because they can spend their time on a positive activities at school, and it also could be develop their aptitude in academic or non- academic skills.
